A StudioDesk For You

Tight quarters? The StudioDesk should do the trick.

It’s a compact desk for the home that does not sacrifice on efficiency or clever design. Bluelounge has created an affordable desk that merges traditional Scandanavian design with modern convenience. The faux leather blotter slides to unveil storage for your power chords and cables, making for a clutter free environment. Pile in all of your power chords and connect to a surge protector that exits the desk to connect to your wall source. White laminate surface is balanced by natural mahogany legs. The simple desk is perfect for those tiny apartments and spare guest rooms. Just under 4 feet in length and a little more than 2 feet in depth, the StudioDesk is a reliable solution for those of you “space challenged.” Retailing for $600, you can order directly through Bluelounge.

Part Deux – The Sequel Office

The Sequel Office by BDI

Well, I wouldn’t call it “the best desk ever,” but it is rather good for a home office solution or start-up business environment. The Sequel office system by BDi consists of a desk, a return workspace and below surface filing cabinets. Choose from three finishes – natural stained cherry, espresso stained oak, or natural walnut – to complement its subtle, contemporary elements like the brushed steel accents and a unique micro-etched black tempered glass top that is resistant to fingerprints. No need for a mouse pad; the glass surface is also compatible for use with an optical mouse. The integrated modesty panels help hide cables and the keyboard tray is lined with neoprene to prevent any slipping when typing. You can find out more at BDi as well as locate a dealer near you. San Diego-based Hold It happened to be on-site at the Dwell Design show and provided all of the info. If I recall correctly, the L-shaped configuration is handsomely priced below $1,000.

And if interested about its designer, Matthew Weatherly is a young artist with a degree from Pratt and studied at Denmark’s Design School. With this basic background information, you can easily see his influence at work.

Doctor Doctor! – The DR Collection

The DR Collection designed by Claudio Bellini for Jofco

A little of the old with a little of the new.

Call the doctor because I just felt my heart stop at first sight of this beautiful executive desk designed by Italian artisan Claudio Bellini. Created for Frezza who deals with Jofco for US domestic sales, the DR Collection combines natural carved walnut wood with modern accents like colored glass surface tops. The collection comprises of the casegood as seen above, as well as a freestanding desk, credenza and conferencing table. The executive collection made its debut at Neocon last month and is already garnering much attention. Check out the entire suite of furnishings at Jofco.

Thank you Contemporist for the tip. To see other stunning products designed by Claudio Bellini, visit his portfolio here.
